Settlers made their way to the region during the gold rush and eventually built small farms, while others lived off the fur trade. The region was named by Oliver Philips, after a town in Oregon.
As one of the larger Cariboo Lakes at 37 km (23 mi) long, Canim Lake offers scenic beauty surrounded by evergreen forests, meadows and mountains. Hike to Canim Falls in Wells Gray Provincial Park along the south side of Canim Lake, or relax on the water with swimming, boating, or fishing – as well as winter pursuits.
Fishing enthusiasts take note – at Canim Lake you’ll find some of BC’s best freshwater fly-fishing and ice fishing. Those who prefer to keep their feet on terra firma can enjoy hiking and horseback riding.

Follow directions to 100 Mile House, BC via Trans-Canada Highway.
Shortly after passing 100 Mile House (coming from the south-west), turn right onto Canim -Hendrix Lake Road. Once you reach Eagle Creek Road you will turn left here and follow it until you reach the property on your left. Sign on Gate.
