Liebe Mitglieder, liebe Kanadafreunde,

wie in der zuletzt an Sie versandten Einladung einschließlich Programmübersicht für das Jahrestreffen in Dresden angekündigt, sind an diesem Wochenende mehrere Events geplant. Da wir darauf angewiesen sind, dass Sie sich für die Angebote differenziert anmelden, finden Sie zu diesem Zweck anbei ein Anmeldeformular. Wir bitten auch diejenigen, die sich bereits angemeldet haben, dieses ausgefüllt an uns zurückzusenden. Zudem steht die Agenda der Mitgliederversammlung nun fest, auch diese können Sie dem Anhang entnehmen.

Wir laden Sie nun erneut vom 29.06. bis zum 01.07.2012 herzlich ein, Dresden zu besuchen und das Jahrestreffen der Deutsch-Kanadischen Gesellschaft in einem besonderen Rahmen, dem Festspielhaus Hellerau, mit uns zu feiern. Unsere Jahresversammlung und die Feier anlässlich des kanadischen Nationalfeiertages, des Canada Day 2012, werden in diesem Jahr gemeinsam gefeiert. Die Botschaft von Kanada hat sich entschieden, diesen für alle Kanadier so wichtigen Nationalfeiertag erstmalig in Dresden, auch am 30.6.2012, dem Vorabend des offiziellen Feiertages, zu begehen.

In diesem Jahr haben wir gemeinsam mit der kanadischen Botschaft wieder ein abwechslungsreiches Programm für Sie geplant:

Am Freitag, dem 29. Juni 2012 treffen wir uns ab 19.00 Uhr zum „Warm Up“ im historischen Biergarten des „Westin Bellevue Hotels“, Große Meißner Straße 15, 01097 Dresden.

Am Samstag, dem 30. Juni 2012 findet für alle Mitglieder der DKG um 14.00 Uhr die Mitgliederversammlung in den Räumen des Festspielhauses Hellerau, Karl-Liebknecht-Str. 56, 01109 Dresden statt. Dort werden auch die diesjährigen WSP-Studenten in einem Seminar (von 10.00 – 16.00 Uhr) auf ihren Kanada-Aufenthalt vorbereitet.
Ab 17.00 Uhr beginnt dann das Festprogramm mit einer kurzen Führung über das Festspielgelände. Die DKG und die Botschaft von Kanada freuen sich anlässlich des Canada Day 2012 zu einem gemeinsamen Empfang mit Barbecue einzuladen. Der Dress Code hierfür ist dementsprechend “Casual“. Sollte das Wetter nicht mitspielen, würde das Barbecue ggf. in die Räumlichkeiten verlegt werden. Im Anschluss an den Empfang und das Barbecue lädt die Botschaft von Kanada zu einem Bühnenprogramm ein, das um 20.00 Uhr beginnen wird. Der Tanzabend ist auf Initiative der Botschaft in Zusammenarbeit mit Hellerau-europäisch Zentrum der Künste und dem Ballett der Semperoper Dresden entstanden. Es werden verschiedene Kurzchoreographien von William Forsyth mit Tänzern des Balletts der Semperoper gezeigt. Diejenigen, die das Fest in geselliger Runde ausklingen lassen möchten, können dies am Neumarkt im Freiberger Schankhaus ab 21.00 Uhr tun.

Am Sonntag, dem 01. Juli 2012 findet dann wahlweise eine ausgiebige Stadtführung durch Dresden oder aber eine Museumsführung durch eine der reichsten Schatzkammern Europas, des Grünen Gewölbes statt. Für diejenigen, die gut zu Fuß sind, ist die 2-3 stündige Stadtführung sicherlich interessant. Diese wird voraussichtlich zwischen 10.00 und 13.00 Uhr für 7€ angeboten.
Für alle anderen bietet es sich an, die Schätze des Grünen Gewölbes zu besichtigen. Hierfür werden 17€ zu zahlen sein. Hier sind wir ebenfalls auf Ihre Anmeldungen angewiesen.

Auch die Mitglieder der Kanadisch-Deutschen Juristenvereinigung laden wir herzlich zur Teilnahme ein. Die Mitgliederversammlung der KDJV wird am 30. Juni 2012, von 11.00 -13.00 Uhr, in den Räumen der Staatl. Kunstsammlung Dresden stattfinden.

Canadian employment rose by 58,000 jobs in April following a blockbuster March in which employment increased by 82,000. Despite large job gains in the past two months, the national unemployment rate edged up 0.1 points to 7.3 per cent as more Canadian were looking for work.

Employment in British Columbia expanded by 19,700 in April, including 16,700 full-time positions. The BC unemployment rate fell by a surprising 0.8 points to 6.2 per cent. BC employment growth is up 2.1 per cent through the first four months of 2012, a marked improvement on the weak job growth of 2011.

The Canadian economy has added 150,000 jobs over the past two Mont's, a rate of job growth that may firm up the Bank of Canada some decision to raise interest rates this Fall. That said, we anticipate a gradual increase in rates with the Bank of Canada testing the water with one or two 25 basis points rate hikes over the fall and winter.
