Lot / Land For Sale in Tweedsmuir Park
Beautiful 160 acre on Stillwater Lake
• lot / land
Tweedsmuir Park, Cariboo Regional District
This beautiful and historical 160 acre property on the south end of Stillwater Lake in Tweedsmuir Park is in a key location and is the most desirable property on the lake.
The property was purchased from Stanley Bruce Edwards a professional surveyor and the son of Ralph Edwards. He built beautiful wide trails all to grade that are still intact throughout the property. Quite a site to behold in a wilderness area to see groomed trails like this. The impressive thing is that he built them all by hand with a pick, shovel and wheelbarrow…quite a feat.
Stanley also was building a new two storey house out of lumber that he milled by hand on site. The house is all timber framed and true and just needs to be finished. In the spring of 2008 the current owner took a crew into the property in an A-star and finished off the cedar shake roof and brought in the wood stove. It will be a very nice place when finished and more than adequate for a crew to live in while building a new lodge, cabins and improvements on the property. A nearby spring provides a plentiful supply good soft mountain water by gravity.
The Edwards families pioneered this area and are renowned for saving the Trumpeter Swans that live in the area. Several books were written on the Ralph Edwards family and their pioneering days in the Stillwater and Lonesome Lake area and much of their work remains intact. My favorite is “Crusoe of Lonesome Lake” the Ralph Edwards story.
The property may have potential as a Wilderness Resort location with a significant structure built to accommodate guests. There is an large volume of standing red cedar, spruce and Douglas Fir more than enough to build whatever the new owner desires To harvest some of the timber would open up the view and let more sunsine in. There are also several building sites on the eastern hillside offering southern exposure and beautiful views.
